The cilantro from our little set of pots took over. So, I moved it outside. And promptly forgot about it.
And then I remembered! Hopefully before it was too late. J and I scurried off to Target and came back with a cilantro friendly planter:
Through a pin on Pinterest I found that cilantro does better in wide, shallow pots, than tall deep ones. This was a great pot for that, however it lacked any drain holes.
When A got home from school he helped me drill four small holes (5/38 was the bit size) in the bottom of the pot (this works for this pot because it has a raised inset that will allow for drainage):
Then we filled one-third of the planter with potting soil:
Then placed the cilantro plant and filled the dirt around the top:
Right now it still looks a bit sad, but I’m hoping it will perk up with some thorough watering and attention.
The cilantro looked so lonely by itself, we decided it needed some plant friends. Stay tuned for the rest of our herb and flower planting from the weekend!
