This is a simple craft that is really helpful if you have a preschooler working on learning how to cut with scissors.

Monster craft: cupcakes and commentary All you need is markers, cardstock paper, glue, pipe cleaners, a hole punch, and child scissors.

IMG_2645 I let A cut out pieces of paper in half and half again, creating lots of different shapes. Then he picked out shapes for the body, legs, head, and arms, and we glued them together on the back.

IMG_2647 We then glued a popsicle stick to the back right of it and made a card stock card for support, glued to the popsicle stick. I cut the bottom of the card so it would be straight edged and support the weight of the monster.

IMG_2650 After the glue had dried, A drew lines for fingers, and toes, and drew it a face. He also decided it needed a bowtie and a necktie (because it seemed fancy, obviously). Then I hole punched the top and A strung through pipe cleaners for hair.

IMG_2652This is A cutting out “food” for his monster.

IMG_2653And a picture with his creation! This is a quick craft as well (took us less than twenty minutes, total).
