One of the benefits of homeschooling? You can run outside to do P.E. in between rain showers. We are on Day 3 of online learning and it’s had ups and downs, but we are slowly getting into what will be a new normal for awhile. Since we aren’t really going anywhere, I’ve been doing some online shopping at small businesses that have it available and wanted to share some of my favorites!
First, up I restocked my Piper and Leaf teas:
Then I picked up this gorgeous canvas for our new home from Vine + Branches (picture is from their Instagram):
Glossier to stock up on brow pomade, and to test out a cleanser:
All of my Social Threads picks from yesterday are small business:
Happy small business shopping online!
Baby ducklings are J’s favorite, and according to my Mom, the feeling is mutual. They’ve been following him around all week. I know they will be sad to see the ducklings and chicks go (they go back to their farm this weekend). Today we’ve got school Valentine’s parties and then we have a fondue dinner planned for at home tomorrow night. And then we are sleeping in on Saturday and it’s going to be grand! We’ve had something every night this week, and I think we are all ready for a long weekend of relaxation. Here are some of my favorites of the week!
My current hair style and color.
Tips for styling hair in rainy weather, which is every day here.
Book I just added to my reading list.
The couch I have my eye on for our new family room.
Sweatshirt from Amazon that my fitness instructor was wearing last week.
Closet staples from Nordstrom.
Favorite yoga practice of the week.
Piper & Leaf is killing it with their teas. I may have to make a trip out this weekend to pick it up!
The podcast that made me laugh out loud.
Finally, my new favorite granola snack.
My work afternoons at home consist of quite a bit of grading, lesson planning, interspersed with laundry, housework, catching up on volunteer things, etc. One of the things that I frequently do to break up the day (because your eyes do start to glaze over, after reading fifty papers), is make tea and have one of my Milk Bar cookies that I got for Christmas. My tea making has become a bit elaborate, but it’s so good, I had to share:
First, make 12 oz of almost boiling water (right before the tea kettle starts to whistle). Then, steep 2 tsp of Old Fashioned Birthday Cake Piper and Leaf tea for seven minutes in the water. Then add 1-2 tsp of local honey, 1 packet of collagen and stir. Finally, add 1-2 TBS original nutpod creamer. It’s so delicious! Enjoy it with any cookie, but a Milk Bar cookie is especially sweet:
If I really need a break, I also throw in an episode of The Crown and flip through my Magnolia Journal or InStyle magazine, and then back to grading!
When I was a kid and we lived overseas, vacation was always at least two weeks, if not more. Now that I’m an adult and B and I both have full time jobs, it sometimes seems impossible to even take a week off at a time, and with the boys’ activities that makes it even harder. So this year I declared it the year of the two week vacation. Even if we never have time to do it again (but I’m hoping we do), it’s been the best two weeks! We’ve had time with my whole family and time with just the four of us, and we have lived it up! We’ve put our emails on hold, went to the beach everyday for a week, and I’m halfway through my second book. It’s been a great introduction to summer!
The summer tea I have been waiting for.
The loveseat I’ve got my eye on for when we extend our back porch.
Matcha vanilla date smoothie.
Copying the idea of baskets for food magazines in this kitchen.
Lemon artichoke spaghetti for meatless Monday’s.
Summer of reading.
A cookbook to put on the list for my birthday.
Obsessed with my new reef sandals I picked up at the beach!
I loved the Hawaiian Loco line that I spotted at Uniqlo at Disney Springs! I picked up the Honolulu Cookie Company shirt. They do run a little bit boxy, but will be perfect for a fun pairing with high waisted shorts for summer, or pants for work in the Fall.
And finally, styling a coffee table three ways with 100 dollars or less!
B and I started out our weekend with a Friday lunch at a local pizza place:
Earth and Stone pizza. Y’all. Their pizza is so good! Check it out:
And I indulged and got a Piper and Leaf sweet front porch tea:
Then we headed to The Deep and picked up graphic novels for B and then to Ulta so I could pick up some items I had run out of and I got shade matched for the new NARS sheer glow I’ve been wanting to try:
It’s even better than I was expecting it to be! It matches my skin flawlessly and stayed on all day (note: I was also wearing Beneft 15 hour primer).
On Saturday, J had a birthday party at Spirited Art:
Which has an awesome color wall:
Then we headed to the library to pick up some books we had on hold:
And find a couple of extra ones as well:
And then on Sunday the sun finally came out and we spent as much time outside as we could:
And now it’s back to school and one more week until Spring Break!
