When I was little my Mom gave me this book, called something like “100 uses for a palm frond”. That was also when we lived oversees and had readily accessible palm fronds. Here, not so much. In honor of Palm Sunday which is coming up this week, Super A made some construction paper palm fronds with little Bible verses on them.
You will need…
Green construction paper
Brown construction paper
Glue stick
Markers
Safety Scissors
(*Special tool…I used a picture cutter to quickly create the strips of paper for the palm branch and fronds, but you can cut them with scissors as well)
What you do…
Cut two medium brown strips for the branch, and then many thin strips for the fronds. I cut the brown strips vertical down the construction paper and the green strips horizontally. So the green strips are smaller. Then glue the green strips to one of the brown strips. Then glue the other brown strip on top and write your Bible verse! Then use the safety scissors to cut some of the fronds on the diagonal so they look more realistic.
So here is an example of the strips…
So here is how it looks if you help your toddler a lot…
Or a little…
Or not at all…
Accompanied by the scream “let me do it!” I like that this one I had written Jesus loves me. That’s right. Jesus loves Super A and his crazy Picasso palm fronds 🙂
