RigatoniOver Christmas my Mom made rigatoni with her spaghetti sauce, and the boys ate it up. I  made a slow cooker version of the meal this past week and thought I would share the results!

First thing you assemble the ingredients. I browned the meat….

RigatoniPut together the sauce in a slow cooker…

RigatoniBoil the noodles to a minute under al dente, and then combine everything together and cook in the slow cooker for 3-4 hours on low…

My Mom’s Rigatoni

Ingredients

1 lb of ground beef

1 28 oz can of hunts crushed tomatoes

1 15 oz can of tomato soup

1 cup of tomato sauce

1 16 oz box of rigatoni

1 tsp of italian seasoning

1 tsp of dried basil

1 tsp of dried oregano

1 tsp of sugar

2 tbs of tomato paste

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Brown meat in a skillet until just done. Boil noodles in salted water until one minute under al dente (so they are a little more firm). Combine all sauce ingredients in the slow cooker and mix well. Add in the browned meat and the noodles and cook for 3 to 4 hours on low.

Options: You can also cook the noodles separately and add them in at the end. Or you can brown the meat, add the sauce ingredients to it and let it cook while you are boiling the noodles for a quicker meal.
