BBQ Pork Sandwiches

I meant to post this yesterday, but I had a midterm exam to finish writing up for my classes and ran out of time! I was having the worst time coming up with writing new questions for my classes…how many different ways can you ask about the concept of “listening” and “language” anyway? This is one of my family’s traditional group gathering meals and I made it for my husband’s birthday dinner (so it is really a Tuesday night dinner!)

BBQ Pork Sandwiches (feeds four generously)


1  5lb pork butt roast

1 bottle KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce (or your personal favorite)

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tbs Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp salt and pepper

hamburger buns


Place pork (fat side up) in a crock pot. Cook on low for 6-8 hours (the longer it cooks the better it is). Towards the end of cooking scrap the fat off of the top of the pork and throw away. Then combine the other four ingredients in the crock pot and shred the pork with forks.


You can eat it plain, but we eat ours on hamburger buns.

You can top it with coleslaw, or dill pickles as well!
