Lollipop Cake
So after much consideration for a Candyland theme birthday, I tried many different options for a first birthday cake. At first I tried a cupcake cake, but didn’t like the results. I thought about ordering a cake, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Finally one night at dinner my Mom said, “why don’t you make a cake in the shape of a lollipop?” So after several different test runs of frosting, sugar crystals, sprinkles, and lots of mess, I finally got a cake that I think turned out pretty well. The final cake was an eight inch round funfetti cake with white frosting and a variety of sugar crystals, and rainbow sprinkles. I made a stick for the lollipop by mixing vanilla meltable candies with rainbow sprinkles and dipped a pretzel stick in the mixture (which was actually a favorite of the party, my husband is still eating the left overs). Here are my messes and one final success just in time for the birthday!
