First, the top of the shoe organizers in our laundry room were starting to chip from the wear and tear of setting items on them. I started out by giving the tops a fresh coat of white paint (in Sherwin Williams Pottery Barn collection in extra white).
You could let it dry for about two hours then go on to the second step. I however, forgot about it and let it dry for several days, then came back and finished up. That works, too.
So at first I was going to do plain stripes. But why do plain stripes when you can go more graphic? Instead, I just put painter’s tape to make designs across the top.
Then I painted over the painter’s tape (I used Sherwin Williams 6197):
And after about thirty minutes (don’t let it go too long or it may stick), I pulled off the painter’s tape.
I got both of the Sherwin Williams’ paints in samples on their 30% off sale, so the entire project cost less than ten dollars, with plenty of paint left over for another project! Happy re-furbishing!
