Ready for the lay up.

This has been a crazy week, friends. I’m looking forward to the weekend, even with the abundance of rain we are about to get. We’re taking the boys to see Ralph Breaks the Internet, and then we’re going to catch up on all the Christmas movies and shows we’ve recorded on DVR.

Love these Japanese cut-out illustrations featuring all things Fall.

Target stocking stuffers; polar-izing nail polish, fluffy powder brush, and hair balm.

Self care strategies for the crazy holiday season.

After listening to a Milkstreet podcast on my way to work, I immediately put Coconuts and Collards on my cookbook list.

A winter trip bucket list, for when the kids are in college, and instead of filling the two weeks before Christmas with parties, field trips, and basketball games we can go to Hawaii. Hopefully Pinterest will still be around then so I can find the list, ha!

A list of board game essentials for your favorite board game aficionado. In our house that’s J.

Office party outfit.

The avocado melting mask at Sephora that is my watermelon mask’s BFF.

Chocolate sprinkle rugelach. So pretty, so delicious!

I really want this eufy robot vac…it’s just sitting in my Amazon cart right now, waiting for me to make up my mind!

Finally, I love Reese’s Witherspoon’s book club. I am starting her December pick today!

Like soaking up the last bit of sun on our driveway, I’ve had home on my mind this week.

One of our current projects is creating a new study/gaming area for the boys.

It feels a bit like spring and a lot like the beginning of summer lately, so I’m revisiting salads sooner than usual.

Can you evolve into someone who likes sports? I feel like that’s where I’ve gone since having two boys who love sports and a husband who lives for game day Saturday.

The paper plane video that has entranced the boys.

And the video about the movie Arrival and its communication elements that astounded me. And a student sent it to me! My students are the best!

Eyeliner that’s smudge free? Tell me more!

The shirt in my Jcrew shopping cart.

What students teach. Powerful and lovely message!

I’m on a plant mission. That is I’m on a mission to put plants in our house that (a.) we aren’t allergic to, and (b.) I can actually keep alive. It’s tough, but I’m determined!

And finally, thinking about a picture holder to complete the decor I’m working on for our bookcase.

And now we’re riding off to the weekend!

Barbecue chicken pasta

Besides his totally awesome PS4 that B got for Christmas, he also got a Food Saver (yes, he asked for that). He is tired of turkey sandwiches everyday, so now he’s on a quest to mix it up by making lunches on the weekend, food saving (savering?) them, and then re-heating them in a mini crockpot. I have no complaints because I’m reaping the benefits with taste testing and bonus lunches for me of his leftovers. His first meal is a barbecue chicken pasta that is so good you need to make it right now. I’m not even joking. It’s that good. Oh and it’s a one pot meal. Even better! Happy lunching! I’ll keep you posted on what he cooks next!

Steak & Arugula Pizza

One of my favorite Saturday night dinners is a homemade pizza. Using The Pioneer Woman’s  pizza dough recipe, B grilled flank steak while I prepped the marinara sauce. I mixed a half a cup of store bought marinara with 3 tbs of bbq sauce, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. After the flank steak was medium rare we sliced it thinly and placed it on top of the rolled out dough and marinara mix. We topped it with cheddar and mozzarella and baked it at 475 for about ten minutes. Immediately after pulling it out of the oven we topped it with arugula. So good!

Two trees

two treesBesides pulling together a creative lounge system, our other big accomplishment of Fall Break was getting two trees for our backyard. We worked together with the placement of our neighbor’s tree to provide some much needed shade from the sun. After much debating, online looking, and wandering about a local nursery we found our perfect trees. Here is a bit more about our process…
