Can this garden be saved?

Published by under Gardening

Part of the reason that I haven’t posted lately is that whenever I try to take pictures of the garden (let alone pick a vegetable) it’s crazy bug world out there. If there isn’t a bee swarming close to my head, there’s a flurry of gnats, flies, etc. to torment me. However, today I decided [...]

Can this garden be saved?

Published by under Gardening

I can’t say enough how pleased I am with the success of our garden this year. I have definitely been convinced that we shouldn’t turn the area into a sandbox! My herbs are as usual growing faster than I can use them. I always think I am going to use herbs more than I do, [...]

Can this garden be saved?

I am very impressed with the benefits of Organic Miracle Grow…behold… The tarragon and parsley are growing almost 80 percent more than they were last year (approximately). And the rest of our vegetables are still doing well, I think we may actually end up with a head of cabbage for all of our work! And [...]

Can this garden be saved?

Published by under Gardening

After a tough fight with some pesky cabbage worms it appears that our cabbage is beginning to pull through… Despite some holes in the outside leaves, the inside is actually doing quite better! Our new pepper plant is already getting a few peppers on it… And our tomato plant is the tallest it has ever [...]

Can this garden be saved?

We have had quite a few busy weeks with a vacation, our good friends’ wedding (yea for Carly and BJ!), and now another few days of a sick toddler! However, our garden has managed to sustain itself with our recent inattention and is actually doing quite well! The tomatoes are almost completely ripened and ready [...]

Can this garden be saved?

Success! One of my husband’s work friends told him that the edible part of the cabbage will be in the center when all the leaves fold in. I’m not seeing it. I’m still wondering if a cabbage patch kid will appear eventually.

I have to admit that our garden has done much better so far this year than it did last year. We have one cabbage that is a big bruiser and one cabbage that is a squirt… The big bruiser The Squirt Our tomato plants are growing steadily and starting to get small tomatoes! And my [...]

The Happy Gardener

Published by under Gardening,Mini Cupcakes

Last year, I peered out at our garden with a mix of sympathy and dread for the poor little ailing plants. There is a short on Sesame Street that’s called Desperate Houseplants (yes a spin on the show Desperate Housewives). Every time I see it I laugh because that’s how I imagined our plants talking. [...]
