Friday Favorites

Friday FavoritesLinus. Two lamb blankets and his blue blanket. All of which he insisted on holding while trying to eat a blueberry muffin.

It’s been a long week! But the boys seem to be on the mend. A is taking one more day off of school to make sure he is fully recovered, and ready for next week. The boys are starting to get a little bit stir crazy. We are looking forward to warmer weather tomorrow, so they can get outside for a bit.

On to some of my favorites from around the internet this week:

Pumpkin snickerdoodle muffins. I was most excited about this recipe because I literally had everything in my pantry to make them. Saturday breakfast, check!

Picking a time tested book for kids.

Ten tips for making a cozy winter interior. My favorite suggestion is colorful throws and a fresh coat of paint!

And on that note, ways to stay active and injury free during the winter.

Awesome. Miracles.

While we are on the subject of prints, I am really thinking about this reindeer DIY art for a Christmas project.

I love french onion dip and this heated version looks terrific.

I am contemplating getting J a new stuffed animal for Christmas. I really love this cat. Plus, in our house it is the closest he will ever come to a real cat, ha!

We’re taking the train!

This sweet little gift wrap caddy is an ingenious idea for a teacher gift.

Thinking about purchasing this peplum top the next time I visit Target.

When I was in high school, and college my Mom and I always anticipated the viewing of Oprah’s favorite things episode. It’s not quite the same now that it is on her website, but it still has some great ideas. My favorite are the Genevieve Boots. They are pretty sweet.

And that’s it! Have a great weekend!

Friday FavoritesAt A’s birthday I realized it was the first time J had ever been in a swing. Seriously. I plead second baby. Anyway, it is clear that J LOVED swinging.

I am still grading papers….currently feeling like I may never finish at this point. We watched a Toy Story special this week, so I am currently thinking like Combat Carl. “Combat Carl never gives up” “Combat Carl finds a way”. And just in case you have no idea what I’m talking about…here’s a little sneak peak.

During my “I’m going crazy eyed looking at outlines” breaks I did a little web surfing, so here are my shares for the week! Happy Friday!

These shoes. Amazing.

Clueless updated.

Love this constellations print.

Fifty tips for making the best soup, and a sweet potato soup recipe.

I like it when a coffee mug makes me feel like I look good in my pajamas and robe with cereal stains on it.

An adorable tiny turtle.

22 classy Halloween ideas…because that’s what Halloween’s all about. Keeping it classy. 🙂

Friday Favorites

October 2013This Friday Favorites post is brought to you by the magic of a single strand of pearls.

A twist on fish and chips, fish in chips. On my list to try for the boys, especially J who spent all week learning the word “chip” because he loves them so.

While searching in the attic for bigger clothes for J (who is growing so fast we can barely keep up with hand me downs), I came across a box of newborn baby burp clothes that instantly smelled just like J and A when they were little bitty. Turns out this new baby smell is a true phenomenon and not just a combo of Tide Free and Dreft.

Fifteen hilarious road signs.

Eight time saving skin tips.

Found J’s new fall hat.

Love this poster for our kitchen or even J’s room.

I love eggs benedict…and this hollandaise sauce looks divine.

Thanksgiving is under attack, ya’ll. (According to Stephen Colbert).

If I was going to splurge on something for winter, this coat would be it.

I just added this book about Audrey Hepburn and this foodie book to my list of books to read.

I love Trader Joe’s chai tea, so this chai martini seems like a logical next step. I’m wondering if I could just make it with the chai tea….

I love these little moto-inspired boots, and they are a great price.

Are you thinking Christmas shopping already? I added this animal rummy game to A’s stocking list, and this train puzzle to J’s.

Friday FavoritesThis moment brought to you by the thought that boys sit still. And they do. Just not for very long.

Lobster macaroni and cheese with some pretty comical lobster crackers.

Teaching color to toddlers. I really love the Pottery Barn color chart.

All of my boys (including my husband) love Italian food. After reading this post, I am putting this cookbook on my Christmas list.

A grown up grilled cheese…I am adding the ingredients to make on the nights I work.

I love this new fall NARS eyeshadow palette, and this lip gloss.

I picked up this Star Wars ABC book at the library for J and it ended up that A loved it. We have already read through it about ten times (and I got it yesterday).

These pull out under the sink storage ideas are awesome…no more digging to the back of the cabinet for items.

This Newcastle fondue looks like a great football party snack idea…or dinner.

This delicate little star bracelet is gorgeous!

Friday Favorites on a Saturday Night

Friday FavoritesThat’s my favorite sweatshirt (I’ve had it since I was eleven), and those are my favorite baby boys, and we are watching our favorite “it’s a crazy night and we need a break show” Full House. Which is based in San Francisco. As is my sweatshirt. And myself. Okay I’ll stop.

So, I tested out the wooden spoons after I had posted the tutorial and the paint came right off. Total test fail. I headed to Google to see if I could figure out a solution, but the best I could find was to put a polyurethane coating on the spoons. Somehow that sounded like a bad idea with spoons that were going to come in contact with food. So I removed the post until I can either find a better solution for them to work!

In addition to that when we updated our iPad it decided to spontaneously delete all of my Friday Favorite links that I had been saving on the notepad all week. After working yesterday and coming home, I ran out of time, so I worked on it a bit today and here are a few things to flip through while you are watching college football tonight (if that’s what you are doing, cause that’s what we are doing!):

I love the idea of traveling to places at certain times of the year. Osaka in November is on my list. Not for this year, of course! We barely made it to the Botanical Gardens and back today without J screaming.

So if you watch Breaking Bad (as we do and are caught up on all seasons), you are as stressed out about tomorrow’s finale as we are. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil you if you aren’t caught up…I do wonder if they can nominate a baby for an Emmy though. ANYWAY. If you are watching the season finale tomorrow here is a fabulous looking cocktail and another list of desserts and cocktails for your viewing.

Read it(The Tiger’s Wife), reading it(Looking for Alaska, a student recommendation), and reading it next(Daily Rituals: How Artists Work).

The cow in this sesame street segment terrifies J. A finds it hilarious. I have to say I’m on J’s side with this one.

Did you know Jessica Alba is one of the new style editor’s for Piperlime? Love her style! This dress she recommends looks terrific for fall date nights.

And that’s all I’ve got! Have a great rest of your weekend! 🙂

Friday Favorites

Friday FavoritesIs anybody else super tired at the end of this week? In order to make our mornings go a little smoother, once the boys have eaten, gotten dressed, and we’ve finished our morning routine, if there is about 15-20 minutes left before time to go to school I let A play Mario.  This way I can do some last minute things to get us out the door without having to corral the boys from say, running down the hallway and trying to slide with their socks on and jump on to the ottoman.

The only two stipulations are A has to hand over the DS as soon as I say it’s time to get shoes on (which he does, so he’ll get to play again),  and he has to let J sit with him some of the time (which is a much more difficult request as you can see here). I had to take this picture of the boys because I couldn’t get over the fact that J was trying to cuddle literally right behind A, and A was trying to sooo hard not to push him out of the way. Hilarious, those boys!

So on to a few of my favorites from the week:

Tips for making vintage (or thrift store, in my opinion) clothing work for you.

An amazing hexagon rug.

I love these sturdy storage boxes (plus they would be J approved!).

I bought a lucky bamboo plant from Lowe’s after reading this article about bringing the outdoors in. It’s still alive, too! 🙂 Luckily…alright sorry. Moving on.

I didn’t know that the harvest moon was such a punk. But apparently it is.

My husband brought to my attention that Auburn gear is super hip in Korea. Who knew?

This chambray giraffe is adorable.

And lastly, it’s national cheeseburger day! A’s favorite!

Friday Favorites

Friday FavoritesOne of my favorite things to watch is A teaching J something new. This is a picture of them right before bedtime, after A had taught J how to rev a car back and then push it across the floor between them.

Thirty ideas to set the mood for autumn.

The list above includes a savory pull apart bread, I also found this delicious looking sweet pull apart bread that I want to make.

Cheesy stuffed garlic butter crescents.

Twenty two new fall books to check out. I am especially excited about Amy Tan’s Valley of Amazement, and Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep. Although I may have to keep that one in the freezer. Friends reference, anyone?

I am SUPER excited about the Target 3.1 Phillip Lim line release this weekend. I am hoping I am able to pick up one of the totes before the sell out (on-line only).

Ondine NARS shadow. One of my eye shadow favorites. It is a great plum/gold and it’s got a bit of brown in it, so it’s not too overbearing to wear for day.

Did you know that the space under your cabinet is called a toe kick? I didn’t either. Anyway, here is a cute DIY idea if you want to glam up that toe kick.

I am going out to buy the materials to make this lion hoodie for J. He loves to dress up right now, so I am positive he will love it!

This pink space is definitely worth putting on a bucket list. Amazing!

And lastly, my favorite picture from fashion week. LOVE.

Friday Favorites

Friday FavoritesIt seems J’s teeth have decided to come in all at once. He has spent a lot of this week chewing on lambies, his blanket, teething rings, and sitting with his Momma. And watching Elmo.

Make your own house stamp.

I usually have one mystery, one fiction/non fiction book, and one foodie book on my nightstand at once. Here are five great food books that I have added to my list!

Love these little purple pansy stud earrings.

Love this neon circle garland, thinking about making it and adding it to A’s room.

Citrus sangria.

I have loved the movie Clue since I first watched it over twenty years ago (I also frequently reference it in my classes!). Here’s a great background on how it catapulted from flop to cult classic.

Such a great twist scarf (it includes a wire band). Thinking about adding it to my Christmas list!

How to dress for success.

I am really in love with Essie’s fall collection of nail polishes. I purchased the one I mentioned last week (a dark blue), and now I really want this one (a dark gray).

Loving this ruffled striped shirt I got from B for my birthday!

I am making this lemon poppy seed bread today for breakfast tomorrow.

Oh and since cold season is upon us, this is my very favorite vitamin C drink. And it’s super yummy!
